Despite the Club Captain having the low score of the day the President’s Team won by 1 point!
Juniors and Intermediates –
The Juniors have kept up their skills over the winter with a number of competitions, more are planned to take place between now and the new season starting in April 2017.
Over the course of this winter there has been an evident increase in the number of dog walkers making use of the Course. Whilst there is absolutely no issue in this regard the Club would simply like to remind walkers as regards their personal safety. Whilst most dog walkers walk around the perimeter of the Course or through the adjoining woods, a number are now cutting across fairways with their dogs.
Bridge of Allan Golf Course has a number of holes where players are in effect playing over blind summits. A protocol exists whereby those playing on such holes ring a warning bell that notifies those players following behind that it is now safe to play. Dog walkers crossing a number of the fairways at Bridge of Allan are placing themselves at risk; such risks will only increase as we move to summer months and the number of golfers on the Course increases. Walkers have a right of access, Bridge of Allan Golf Club would simply ask that where possible dog walkers follow the Course perimeter and are mindful of their personal safety when crossing fairways.
Commencing November 2016, Bridge of Allan Golf Club’s volunteers group have now given excess of 140 hours of labour in support of our Club. Members’ should be under no illusion that this is a significant contribution! Work undertaken / completed includes:
• edge, clean and clear all astro-turf steps and mats located throughout the course,
• clearance of gorse / undergrowth from 5th,7th and 9th fairways following concerns raised by members,
• felling and clearing of conifer trees adjacent to 3rd tee,
• leaf clearance,
• cleaning of Clubhouse and Practice Shed guttering,
• edge, clean and clear cart path between 5th tee and fairway,
• fencing repairs, and
• repairs to steps at 2nd & 6th tees.
