Our Philosophy
One of the key priorities of Bridge of Allan Golf Club is to encourage and support new members, to help everyone to get the most out of their membership with us and to feel a part of the Bridge of Allan Golf Club community. Gaining a handicap is a key factor and has many benefits that really enhances our golfing experience.
Some of the key advantages are:
It helps you track your progress over time
Allows for accurate skill level assessment
Sets realistic goals
Bad rounds (we all have them) have limited impact
It is a requirement for entering club competitions
Allows golfers with differing abilities to play on an equal playing level
Encourages us to focus on playing against our handicap rather than playing the course.
At the start of each golfing season we hold New Member Events, where we welcome new members to the club and explain the support available. We are mindful that members join us throughout the season and, therefore, the support and communication we offer is an ongoing approach throughout the year, it’s never too late to reach out for help.
If you would like more information or would simply like a chat to see how we can support you, feel free to get in touch membershipsecretary@bofagc.com.
Testimonial
I joined BoAGC about a year ago. I particularly wanted a nine hole course and a club which was not too formal. It can be a bit daunting to join a new club, but the members were incredibly welcoming and supportive in helping me to get established and to quickly build up a number of playing contacts. That support included helping me to quickly submit my scores for a handicap, enabling me to fully participate in all the competitions. The setting of the course is beautiful and it’s in great condition. I have never experienced any problem in getting a playing time that suits. And if I am playing poorly then I can always enjoy the stunning views. So, if you want a friendly club with a challenging nine holes, then I thoroughly recommend it.”
‘Having never played golf before, I was a little apprehensive about joining a club and after joining, I played on my own for a couple of months. Almost immediately, I was lucky enough to meet other golfers on the course who were welcoming and friendly. I then played a round with the membership secretary after he contacted me and I started on my journey to getting a handicap. Fast forward a year and I have met a lot of great people, played in several competitions and enjoying golf immensely.”
